Punjab: 5 IPS Transferred; B S Meena Appointed as SSP Muktsar

According to an official order, five IPS officers, including the district police chiefs of Muktsar and Tarn Taran in Punjab, were transferred on Thursday
Harmanbir Singh Gill, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Muktsar, would now report to the Director General of Police (DGP). According to the order, BS Meena has been appointed as Muktsar SSP in place of Mr. Gill.
According to the transfer order, Tarn Taran SSP, IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, would also report to the DGP.
The action came a day after Mr. Manjinder Singh Lalpura, an AAP MLA from Khadoor Sahib, accused Mr. Chauhan of filing a “fake” case against one of his relatives.
In place of Mr. Chauhan, Ashwani Kapoor has been appointed as Tarn Taran SSP.
Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, a senior IPS officer, has been appointed as additional director general of police (Patiala range), while GS Sandhu has been appointed as inspector general of police (Faridkot range). Mr. Sandhu takes over from IPS officer Ajay Maluja.
Dhanpreet Kaur has been appointed as the deputy inspector general of police for the Ludhiana range, replacing Kaustubh Sharma.
