The central government has extended the deputation tenure of two senior IPS officers in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

2003 batch IPS officer of J&K cadre, Mr. Keshav Ram Chaurasia, and 2005 batch IPS officer of UP cadre, Mr. Prem Kumar Gautam, have had their deputation tenures extended and regularized within the CBI.

These extensions were granted in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive dated August 14, 2023, as both officers were actively involved in the inquiry and investigation of the Coal Block Allocation cases.

Mr. Chaurasia’s tenure as DIG (CBI) was regularized from June 7, 2016, until August 25, 2023.

While Mr. Gautam’s tenure as DIG (CBI) was regularized from January 28, 2019, until September 30, 2023.

This development was formalized through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on 15 September, 2023.
