In a statement issued by the Tripura Government, it has appointed VS Yadav on the post of new Director-General of Police. The post has received a new recipient after almost 10 months as the previous D.G.; AK Shukla had retired on January 31st.
According to reports, the first choice of the state was to appoint Amitabh Ranjan, a 1988 batch Tripura Cadre IPS, but due to him not being released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the procedure got delayed. Meanwhile, during this period, the addition Director-General of Law and Order, Rajiv Singh was in charge of the police chief’s office.
In October the state government had received a panel of three senior IPS officers from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the post of Director General of Police. They were VS Yadav, a 1987 batch IPS, presently principal secretary of OBC welfare department, Anurag Dhyankar IG, BPR&D, MHA, New Delhi, and Rajiv Singh, who is currently holding the post of DGP in-charge was received by the state.
