1996 batch IPS officer Amitabh Yash has been made ADG Law and Order in UP. He has been given the additional charge of ADG, Law and Order, along with Director General of Police, STF.
An order has been issued to give the responsibility of ADG Law and Order to Amitabh Yash and he has been instructed to take up his post immediately.
It is noteworthy that this post was lying vacant after former ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar became DGP.
Mr. Yash originally belongs to Bhojpur, Bihar. After completing his primary studies from Patna, he came to Delhi. He graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and then got selected in IIT Kanpur. After passing out from IIT, he joined civil service in 1995.
He was promoted to the post of Additional Director General (ADG) of Police on January 1, 2021. Amitabh Yash is known as an encounter specialist.
His father Ram Yash Singh was also an IPS officer. His father was an officer of Bihar cadre and seeing him, Amitabh Yash was inspired to become a police officer.
Amitabh Yash did the encounter of notorious criminal Vikas Dubey, who carried out the Bikaru incident in Kanpur. Apart from this, he has encountered more than 150 criminals including Dadua Gang, Nirbhay Gurjar Gang, and Thokiya. The encounter of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad also took place under his leadership.
