New Delhi: In a significant administrative development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the appointment of two senior IPS officers as Inspector General (IG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for a tenure of five years.
The appointments were announced through an official order issued by the MHA on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Malothu Ramulu Naik Appointed IG in SSB
Malothu Ramulu Naik, a 1998-batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as Inspector General in the SSB. His tenure will last for five years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders – whichever comes earlier.
Naik brings over two decades of experience in various policing and administrative roles and is known for his work in public security and intelligence operations.
Nishit Kumar Ujjwal Also Appointed IG in SSB
Similarly, Nishit Kumar Ujjwal, a 2001-batch IPS officer of the Manipur cadre, has been appointed as Inspector General in the SSB for a five-year term under the same conditions. Ujjwal has served in multiple challenging environments and is recognized for his expertise in internal security management.
Appointments Aim to Strengthen SSB Leadership
The appointment of these two senior officers is expected to strengthen the leadership of the Sashastra Seema Bal, which plays a vital role in guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. These strategic postings come amid the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency in paramilitary forces.
