New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed IPS S Hari Prasath (Bihar: 2010 batch) as Community Policing Adviser, P-4, at the Strategic Police Cooperation (SPC) office in Brindisi, Italy. This international posting marks a significant milestone in his distinguished career in law enforcement and national security.
Previous Roles and Experience
Before his latest appointment, Hari Prasath was serving as Deputy Inspector General (Administration) at the National Security Guard (NSG), HQ. He had been appointed as DIG (NSG) on a lateral shift basis in January 2025, a tenure valid until January 16, 2027. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), where he contributed as a faculty member, training senior officers in policing and strategic operations.
Academic Background and Training
Hari Prasath holds a Postgraduate degree in Public Management from the University of Madras and is currently pursuing Advanced Management Programme in Public Policy (AMPPP) at the Indian School of Business (ISB).
Extensive Field Experience in Bihar
During his decade-long service in Bihar, Hari Prasath held several key field postings, including:
- SP Nalanda, SP Nawada, SP Sitamarhi, SP Rural Patna, SP Bagaha
- ASP in Rohtas and Munger
His field experience across districts, combined with strategic roles in NSG and NPA, underscores a career dedicated to public safety, counter-terrorism, and administrative excellence.
