Mr. Umesh Chander Datta, a 2000-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the Inspector General in the Special Protection Group (SPG).
He is currently serving as the Inspector General of Police in the Jaipur Range, and will take up his new role under the Government of India, soon.
The appointment will be on a deputation basis for a period of five years, starting from the date he assumes charge of the post. This move is seen as a significant step in Mr. Datta’s career, reflecting his extensive experience and commitment to service.
The SPG, responsible for providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and other high-ranking officials, will benefit from Mr. Datta’s expertise in law enforcement and administration.
