Mr. V K Singh, presently posted in the rank of Additional DGP, has been chosen as the winner of the coveted President’s Police Medal. Officer Singh, while serving as the ADGP of Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) and Special Investigation Team (SIT) earlier this year, played a pivotal role in bringing the ‘paper leak mafia’ to the book by identifying 30 trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) who facilitated recruitment exams through unfair means. Mr. V K Singh is a 1997-batch IPS Officer.
Under IPS VK Singh’s leadership, SIT and SOG worked jointly to dismantle paper leak networks in JEN (junior engineer) and Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exams and not only arrested the gang leaders behind the leaks but also arrested their accomplices and candidates who benefited from the shady nexus.
The celebrated IPS officer played an instrumental role in exposing a racket involving private universities in Rajasthan that were issuing backdated and forged degrees for unrecognised courses. During his tenure as ADGP (traffic), Singh was instrumental in reducing road accidents with regular safety audits and stringent enforcement of traffic rules, including making the use of helmets, mandatory.
