The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has accepted the voluntary retirement (VRS) of senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS – Customs and Indirect Taxes) officer BS Umesh.
Prior to his retirement, Umesh was serving as Assistant Commissioner at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN).
Over the course of his career, he held several key responsibilities, including working as Assistant Director in the section of Governance & Operations, where he contributed to initiatives such as Monetisation, collaborations with the Capacity Building Commission, and overseeing GRIHA and other sustainability certifications.
Mr Umesh’s tenure was marked by active involvement in institutional development, operational reforms, and capacity-building efforts within the indirect taxation ecosystem. His voluntary retirement marks the end of a notable career in public service.
