IRS officer Shefali Juneja elected as Chairperson of ICAO

Shefali Juneja elected as Chairperson of UN’s ICAO committee. India’s got this responsibility after 12 years. ICAO functions to maintain the administrative and bureaucracy supporting diplomacy and research new air transport policy.

Shefali Juneja has been elected as the Chairperson of the Aviation Security Committee of United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). She is also the first woman to lead the committee.

Shefali Juneja is a 1992 IRS IT officer. She also served as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation from 2012 to 2019. She was the chief bilateral air services Negotiator for India. She also served the Board of Director in Air India group companies like Air India Express and Alliance Air.

ICAO is a UN agency to support diplomacy and cooperation in air transport. It is responsible for ensuring standards and regulations for safe, economic and efficient air travel.
