Ranchi: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries has launched a major initiative to create local employment opportunities for youth in Jharkhand by signing multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with educational and training institutions.

The move aims to bridge the gap between skilled youth and industry requirements, ensuring that trained candidates can find jobs within the state instead of migrating elsewhere.

MoUs Signed with Key Institutions for Skill Development

As part of the initiative, the chamber has already signed MoUs with several major institutions, including:

  • Jharkhand Government Tool Room
  • Birla Institute of Technology (BIT)
  • XISS (Xavier Institute of Social Service)

More partnerships with additional institutions are also in the pipeline.

These collaborations are focused on strengthening skill development, innovation, and employment generation in the state.

Addressing Skill Gap Between Youth and Industry Needs

Chamber officials highlighted a growing mismatch in Jharkhand:

  • Many unemployed and trained youths are seeking jobs
  • Industries and service sectors are facing a shortage of skilled manpower
  • Youth are often forced to migrate outside the state for employment

The new initiative aims to act as a bridge between industry demand and trained workforce availability.

Focus on Training, Internships and Industry Exposure

Under the MoU framework, students and trainees will benefit from:

  • Better placement opportunities
  • Internship programs
  • Industrial visits
  • Practical training aligned with industry needs

At the same time, industries will gain access to skilled, job-ready manpower.

Strengthening Academic and Industry Collaboration

The partnership with institutions like BIT is expected to:

  • Improve academic-industry coordination
  • Enhance employability of students
  • Promote applied research and innovation
  • Support joint training and consultancy programs

Officials said this will also encourage entrepreneurship and technological innovation in the state.

Skill Development Workshops and Training Programs Planned

Jharkhand Government Tool Room officials confirmed that regular skill development workshops and training programs will be organized for entrepreneurs and students.

Key focus areas include:

  • Industry-specific technical training
  • Use of advanced machinery and lab facilities
  • Customized training based on industrial demand
  • Collaboration with private companies for practical exposure

Building Skilled Workforce for Industrial Growth

According to chamber representatives, the initiative will help:

  • Create a steady supply of skilled manpower for industries
  • Improve employment opportunities for local youth
  • Strengthen Jharkhand’s industrial ecosystem
  • Reduce dependency on external workforce

Officials also stated that further collaboration with the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society is being planned.

Expert View on Industry-Academia Partnership

Alok Singh, Chairman of the Skill Development Sub-Committee of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said the initiative aims to create a strong bridge between industries and educational institutions.

He emphasized that in today’s competitive environment, skills matter more than degrees, and industry-aligned training is essential for employment generation and economic growth.

Step Towards Employment-Driven Skill Ecosystem

The MoU-driven initiative marks a significant step toward building a skill-based employment ecosystem in Jharkhand, ensuring that youth are trained according to industry needs and local businesses gain access to a competent workforce.
