The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued new orders assigning additional responsibilities to two senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers and effectuated transfers and postings of 12 Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) within the Forest, Ecology, and Environment Department. The decisions aim to strengthen forest management and environmental conservation efforts across the region.

Additional Charges to Senior Officers

Dr. M K Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Jammu, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Regional Director, Social Forestry Jammu. Similarly, Irfan Rasool Wani, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, has been given the added responsibility of Regional Director, Social Forestry Kashmir. Both officers will perform these duties alongside their existing roles until further orders are issued.

Major Transfers and Postings of DFO Officers

The reshuffle includes several significant movements across the forest divisions of Jammu and Kashmir:

Satyendra Maurya has been transferred from DFO Baramulla Forest Division to DFO Udhampur.

Shahbazul Rehman, previously DFO Mahore, has been posted as DFO Doda Forest Division.

Bishan Dass, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) and in-charge General Manager P&P Jammu, has been transferred to DFO Ramban, replacing Ankit Sinha, who will report to the office of PCCF J&K for further posting.

Zahid Aslam Moughal, DCF and I/C Regional Director Social Forestry Kashmir, has been transferred to DFO Baramulla following his new charge as I/C Regional Director, Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing Jammu.

Owais Farooq Mir, DCF and I/C Project Coordinator WUCMA, has been posted as DFO Kamraj.

Vijay Kumar Verma, DCF and DFO Kishtwar, has been shifted to DFO Mahore Forest Division.

Mahesh Kumar, ACF and I/C DFO Doda, has been transferred to DFO Kishtwar.

Naveed Iqbal, ACF and DFO Poonch, has been posted as DFO Rajouri.

Mushtaq Hussain Choudhary, ACF and I/C DFO Social Forestry Poonch, has been posted as DFO Poonch Forest Division.

Mohd Ashraf Kattoo, ACF and I/C DFO Kulgam, has been transferred to DFO Anantnag.

Himanyu Kabir Qadri, ACF and I/C DFO Agrostology Kashmir, has been posted as DFO Lidder Forest Division.

Qamar Rashid Khan, ACF attached with Nowshera Forest Division, will take charge of Shopian Forest Division.

Focus on Enhanced Forest Management

This administrative reshuffle reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening forest governance, environmental sustainability, and the welfare of local ecosystems. The officers will now take charge of their new roles and work towards advancing forestry development, wildlife conservation, and ecological balance throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
