Jammu: With the impending retirement of Kulbir Singh, the current Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ramban, on July 31, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is set to make key changes in the police hierarchy. Sources confirm that a JKPS officer is likely to take over as the new SSP Ramban, following deliberations within the administration.
Initially, both an IPS and a JKPS officer were being considered for the post, but the Lieutenant Governor’s administration has now almost finalized the name of a JKPS officer, sources told Cross Town News.
IPS Officer Sameer Sharma to Be Appointed DIG
In a related development, IPS officer Sameer Sharma, recently transferred to Jammu and Kashmir from Lakshadweep, is expected to be appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the upcoming police reshuffle. Hailing from Jammu, Sharma’s return is being viewed as a homecoming and a boost to the local leadership cadre in the Union Territory.
Sources further revealed that the official order is expected to be issued within the next few days.
More Transfers Expected
The upcoming reshuffle is not limited to just Ramban or the DIG-level post. Sources indicate that three to four more officers may also be transferred or posted in the same order, as part of routine administrative restructuring.
The appointment of a JKPS officer to a prominent district like Ramban, especially amid growing security and developmental importance, is being closely watched within administrative and law enforcement circles.
