The Allahabad High Court directed the UP DGP to appear in person before the Court. The order was passed by a Bench of Justice Sameer Jain while hearing a bail application filed by Pushpraj Singh alias Babloo in a murder case. The Court expressed concern that police officials were allegedly not complying with judicial directions in a timely manner.

Why Did The Court Summon The DGP
The case involved a discrepancy between the alleged time of the incident and CCTV footage dated June 21, 2025. Earlier, on July 16, 2026, the Court had directed the State to file a detailed counter-affidavit explaining the discrepancy. However, when the matter came up again, the required affidavit had still not been filed.
Government Counsel’s Submission
Additional Government Advocate Dr. S.B. Maurya informed the Court that letters had been sent twice requesting compliance. Despite those efforts, the affidavit was reportedly not filed.
Court Takes Serious View Of Non-Compliance
The High Court strongly criticized the failure to comply with its earlier order. Justice Sameer Jain observed that such situations were being seen frequently and indicated a troubling pattern of non-compliance by police officials. The Court remarked that delays caused by non-compliance can result in murder bail applications remaining pending for long periods.
