To strengthen the ‘New Khadi for New India’ movement under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Mr. Manoj Kumar distributed 2,050 bee boxes, honey colonies, and toolkits to 205 beekeepers across six states. The distribution, conducted via video conference from KVIC’s Rajghat office in Delhi, aligns with the government’s ‘Honey Mission’ aimed at promoting beekeeping in rural areas.

During the event, Mr. Manoj Kumar emphasized that the initiative supports the Prime Minister’s vision of expanding the ‘Sweet Revolution’ across villages. He highlighted a national-level exhibition held at Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh (January 14 – February 27, 2025), which recorded historic sales of Khadi products worth Rs. 12.02 crore. The exhibition featured 98 Khadi stalls and 54 village industry stalls, with sales of Rs. 9.76 crore in Khadi and Rs. 2.26 crore in village industry products.

Recalling Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s 2016 call for a ‘Sweet Revolution’ alongside the ‘White Revolution,’ Mr. Kumar noted that KVIC launched the ‘Honey Mission’ in 2017. Since then, over 20,000 beneficiaries have received 2 lakh bee boxes. He also reiterated the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, which emphasized the economic benefits of bee farming, particularly the demand for bee wax in multiple industries.

Details:

Mr. Kumar further stated that Khadi sector sales have increased fivefold in the last decade, creating 10.17 lakh new jobs, with over 80% benefiting women artisans. The event was attended virtually by KVIC officials and beekeeping beneficiaries.
