Bihar plans priority land allocation for landless schools, while 24 Kendriya Vidyalayas have received land in the past two months.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Patna: Bihar will prioritise land allocation for schools that do not have their own land, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr Dilip Jaiswal said on Monday. The move is aimed at addressing long-standing land-related issues affecting schools across the state.

The minister also announced that 24 Kendriya Vidyalayas have received land within the last two months, with up to five acres allotted for each school. The government also plans to remove encroachments from school campuses and playgrounds and streamline land-related work through dedicated district-level officers.

The announcements came during the second day of a state-level workshop-cum-chintan shivir at Adhiveshan Bhavan in Patna. Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari also attended the programme.

Separate Nodal Officers for Education Land Matters

Dr Jaiswal said a DCLR or Additional District Magistrate-level officer will be appointed as a nodal officer in every district to handle Education Department land matters.

The move aims to improve coordination between the Revenue and Education departments and speed up pending cases related to school land, encroachments and access roads.

24 Kendriya Vidyalayas Receive Land

Highlighting recent progress, the minister said land has been provided for 24 Kendriya Vidyalayas in just two months.

The government has allowed allotment of up to five acres for each school, providing a significant push to the expansion of Kendriya Vidyalaya infrastructure in the state.

The minister also assured that other landless schools would receive priority when land is identified and made available.

Government to Act Against School Encroachments

Another major focus of the announcement was the removal of encroachments from school premises and playgrounds.

According to Dr Jaiswal, the Revenue Department has received a list of schools where encroachment has been reported. Officials have been directed to take quick action to clear such properties.

The government will also work on providing land required for approach roads to schools, where necessary. Better access and secure school premises can improve the overall learning environment, particularly in areas where institutions face land constraints.

Officials Asked to Visit Schools Every Month

Dr Jaiswal urged senior education officials, including departmental secretaries, DEOs, RDDs and DPOs, to visit a school at least once a month, interact with students and take classes where possible.

He said such visits would help officials understand ground-level issues and improve education delivery.

Officials were asked to:

  • Visit schools monthly
  • Interact with students
  • Take classes where possible
  • Review ground-level issues
  • Focus on result-oriented work

Focus on Teachers and Education Quality

Dr Jaiswal underlined the role of teachers and education officials in preparing the next generation. He urged teachers to remain committed to improving the quality of education.

He also referred to efforts being made to address teachers’ concerns and said issues faced by teachers were being taken up for resolution through the initiatives of Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari.

The emphasis on school visits and direct interaction with students reflects a push towards closer monitoring of educational institutions and a better understanding of challenges at the grassroots level.

Minister Calls for Better Work Planning

Dr Jaiswal urged officials to review their daily work and plan priorities for the next day. He said regular self-assessment can improve work quality and efficiency.

He also advised officials not to let work pressure affect their functioning and encouraged them to remain calm, positive and energetic while dealing with people. He stressed that administrative work should remain result-oriented.

Regular Reviews to Strengthen Education System

The minister urged officials and teachers to use workshops and reflection sessions to review their work, identify gaps and improve education delivery.

The focus on land allocation, encroachment removal, school access and field visits aims to strengthen school infrastructure and education quality across Bihar.

Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari also welcomed Dr Dilip Jaiswal with a bouquet, angavastram and memento during the programme.
