Chhattisgarh Gets Major Electronics Boost as Centre Approves Rajnandgaon EMC 2.0 Project 

MeitY approves ₹210.56 crore central assistance for EMC 2.0 project, with over ₹3,000 crore investment potential and four anchor companies already showing interest.

Rajnandgaon: Chhattisgarh has received a major boost to its electronics manufacturing sector after the Central Government approved the establishment of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Rajnandgaon district.

The project, approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), will be developed in Patewa village of Rajnandgaon. It is expected to attract more than ₹3,000 crore in investment and generate around 9,000 employment opportunities in the state.

₹210.56 Crore Central Assistance Approved

Under the EMC 2.0 scheme, the Central Government has approved ₹210.56 crore in central assistance for the project.

The total project cost has been estimated at ₹432.08 crore. The project will be implemented by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC).

The approval is being seen as a major step towards strengthening electronics manufacturing infrastructure and attracting large-scale investments to the state.

Rajnandgaon to Get Chhattisgarh’s Second Electronics Cluster

The Rajnandgaon project will become Chhattisgarh’s second major Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, after the first cluster established in Nava Raipur.

The new cluster is expected to increase the availability of modern industrial infrastructure and developed industrial plots for electronics and technology companies.

The project is being developed across approximately 306.56 acres of land, with 150.56 acres reserved for industrial plots.

The proposed facilities will include:

  • Ready-built factories
  • Industrial plots
  • Electricity supply
  • Water supply
  • Warehousing facilities
  • Other modern industrial infrastructure

All necessary statutory approvals have reportedly been secured, and the project is ready for implementation.

Four Anchor Companies Show Interest in Cluster

The proposed Rajnandgaon electronics cluster has already attracted interest from four anchor companies operating in areas such as semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs) and smart electronics. These companies have proposed an initial investment of approximately ₹365 crore.

The presence of anchor units is expected to help attract additional electronics manufacturers and component suppliers to the cluster, creating a broader industrial ecosystem in the region.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the project.

The Chief Minister said the Centre’s continued support and guidance are helping Chhattisgarh establish a stronger identity in electronics manufacturing.

CM Sai said the EMC 2.0 project demonstrates that Chhattisgarh is emerging as a reliable and capable destination for manufacturing industries at the national level.

Focus on Industry-Ready Skills for Local Youth

The state government plans to align technical and vocational training institutions with the requirements of industries that will operate within the electronics manufacturing cluster.The objective is to ensure that local young people have the necessary skills and can access employment opportunities as companies begin recruitment

Government Highlights Investor-Friendly Environment

Chhattisgarh Commerce and Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said the state government has developed a faster and more transparent system for industries and investors. He highlighted the ‘OneClick’ single-window system, through which land allotment and necessary approvals are provided within stipulated timelines.

EMC 2.0 to Support Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat

The Rajnandgaon electronics manufacturing cluster is expected to support major national initiatives such as:

  • Make in India
  • Digital India
  • Atmanirbhar Bharat

The project is also expected to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing capacity, component production and value addition.

With the development of the new cluster, Chhattisgarh aims to establish itself as an emerging electronics manufacturing hub in India, while creating new investment and employment opportunities in the state.
