Warangal: Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Sunday launched the TG-VEER special grievance portal for families of police martyrs, promising faster resolution of their long-pending issues.
The portal was launched during the DGP’s interaction with the families of police martyrs at an ‘Athmiya Samavesham’ in Warangal on the second day of his district visit.
Recalling the supreme sacrifice of 28 police personnel from the erstwhile Warangal district who lost their lives fighting Naxalism, Anand said the peace and improved law-and-order situation prevailing in the region today was built on the sacrifices of police personnel who placed their duty above their own lives.
“They placed their duty above their own lives and can never be forgotten,” the DGP said.
TG-VEER Portal to Resolve Martyrs’ Families’ Grievances
The newly launched TG-VEER portal has been designed specifically to provide a dedicated mechanism for police martyrs’ families to register and track their grievances.
Families can use the platform to seek resolution of issues relating to ex-gratia payments, financial assistance, compassionate appointments, house-site allotments, land registration, title-related matters, pensions and other welfare concerns.
The initiative aims to ensure that such cases do not remain pending for long and that families can directly access the police administration for assistance.

QR-Code Identity Cards Distributed
As part of the initiative, Anand distributed identity cards carrying QR codes to the families of police martyrs.
The QR codes will provide the families with direct access to the TG-VEER portal, allowing them to register their grievances without having to navigate multiple administrative channels.
The system has also been designed to provide greater visibility into the status of each grievance.
Senior Officers to Monitor Grievance Redressal
Anand said the portal has been structured in a way that enables senior police officers at different levels, from unit level to state level, to monitor the progress of grievance redressal.
This monitoring mechanism is expected to improve accountability and ensure that complaints submitted by martyrs’ families are followed up until resolution.
The DGP also directed Warangal Police Commissioner N. Swetha to personally monitor the problems being faced by the families of police martyrs.
Families Raise Long-Pending Issues
During the interaction, family members of the police martyrs placed several long-pending issues before the DGP.
Their concerns included matters related to ex-gratia, financial assistance, house sites, land registration and pensions, among other welfare-related issues.
Anand assured the families that he would take up their concerns with the government and work towards resolving them.
The interaction was intended to provide a direct platform for the families to communicate their concerns to senior police leadership.
‘Peace Today Is Built on Martyrs’ Sacrifices’
The DGP paid tribute to the police personnel who lost their lives during the fight against Naxalism in the region.
Warangal and its surrounding areas had witnessed prolonged violence during the period when Naxalism posed a major security challenge to Telangana.
Police personnel deployed in affected areas faced significant risks, with several losing their lives during encounters and anti-Naxal operations.
Anand said the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the region today could not be viewed separately from the sacrifices made by these personnel.
He emphasised that the contribution of the martyrs must continue to be remembered even as the nature of security challenges changes.
Naxalism No Longer the Same Challenge
Speaking to the media after visiting the Warangal Police Commissionerate and attending a crime review meeting, Anand said Naxalism, which had once posed a major challenge to Telangana, has now disappeared as a major threat.
However, he said the government faces a new challenge in rehabilitating people who have surrendered from Naxal groups.
The changing security environment, according to the DGP, requires the police and administration to redirect their attention towards emerging problems affecting society.
Police Experience to Be Used Against New Challenges
Anand said the experience and expertise of police personnel who played a crucial role in combating Naxalism would now be utilised to tackle emerging threats.
He specifically mentioned the growing challenges posed by cybercrime, narcotic drugs and food adulteration.
The shift reflects the changing nature of policing requirements in Telangana, where traditional counter-insurgency operations are being replaced by a wider focus on technology-driven crime, drug-related offences and public-safety issues.
The DGP has previously indicated that personnel from specialised anti-Naxal formations could be redeployed to address emerging urban and social challenges.
Warangal Police Commissionerate Building Inspected
Later in the day, Anand inspected the new Warangal Police Commissionerate building, which is nearing completion.
Officials briefed him about the progress of construction and other aspects of the project.
The DGP directed officials to ensure that the new commissionerate building is designed and equipped in a manner that enables the police to provide better and more accessible services to the public.
The emphasis on public-facing services comes as Warangal continues to expand and the police administration deals with changing patterns of crime and increasing demands on law enforcement.
Senior Police and Administrative Officers Present
Several senior police and administrative officials were present during Anand’s visit and the various programmes held in Warangal.
Those present included IG (Intelligence) Karthikeya, Warangal Police Commissioner N. Swetha, SP Sindhu Sharma, Additional Collector Ravi, Additional SPs Vinod and Shyam Babu, along with senior officers from specialised police wings.
Officers associated with Cyber Crime, CCTNS, T-Eagle Force and CID were also present, including SPs Rupesh, Sai Sri, Giridhar and Srinivas Reddy.
A Digital Link Between Martyrs’ Families and Police
The TG-VEER portal marks an effort to institutionalise welfare grievance redressal for police martyrs’ families through a digital platform.
By linking the service to QR-code-enabled identity cards and creating a monitoring mechanism for senior officers, the Telangana Police aims to make it easier for families to raise issues and track their progress.
For the families of the 28 police martyrs from erstwhile Warangal district, the initiative also serves as a formal recognition of their long-standing concerns.
The DGP’s message during the interaction was clear: while Telangana’s security environment has changed significantly since the peak of Naxal violence, the sacrifices of those who fought the insurgency will remain an important part of the state’s policing history.
