Hyderabad: In a major step towards technology-driven public safety, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand (IPS) on Wednesday inaugurated the Next-Generation Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG-ERSS) – Dial 112 at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Hyderabad.

The AI-enabled platform brings 18 emergency services under a single helpline number, enabling citizens to access police, fire, ambulance and several other emergency services through one phone call. The initiative aims to ensure faster, smarter and more coordinated emergency response across Telangana.

The launch ceremony was attended by senior IPS officers, government officials and representatives of partner agencies involved in emergency response.

One Number for 18 Emergency Services

Speaking after inaugurating the service, DGP C.V. Anand said the upgraded Dial 112 platform has been designed as a single point of contact for citizens during emergencies.

The integrated system brings together multiple emergency response agencies, including:

  • Police
  • Fire Services
  • Ambulance Services
  • Women’s Safety
  • Child Protection
  • Disaster Response
  • Other emergency support services

By integrating these services under the national emergency number 112, citizens no longer need to remember multiple helpline numbers, ensuring quicker access to assistance during emergencies.

AI-Powered Platform for Faster Response

The newly launched TG-ERSS leverages Artificial Intelligence and advanced digital technologies to significantly improve emergency handling and dispatch operations.

The system includes several intelligent features such as:

  • AI-based filtering of duplicate and non-emergency calls
  • AI-powered prioritisation of incidents based on severity
  • Smart routing of calls to the appropriate emergency agency
  • AI-assisted dispatch of field personnel
  • Voice-to-text transcription of emergency conversations
  • Advanced caller location tracking through Location-Based Services (LBS), Advanced Location Services (ALS) and Google Maps
  • Real-time operational dashboards and performance monitoring
  • Unified single-window interface for call takers and dispatchers
  • Integration with drones and future emergency response technologies

These features are expected to reduce response delays while improving coordination among multiple agencies.

Processing Time Reduced by Nearly 30%

The Telangana Police said the next-generation platform has already delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency.

According to official data:

  • Call taker processing time has been reduced from 100 seconds to 69 seconds.
  • Dispatcher processing time has come down from 90 seconds to 64 seconds.
  • Overall call centre processing time has declined from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, marking an improvement of nearly 30 percent.

The reduction in processing time is expected to help emergency teams reach citizens more quickly during critical situations.

Emergency Response Time Across Telangana

Officials also shared the current average response times under the state’s emergency network.

At present, Telangana records:

  • Approximately 6 minutes in urban areas.
  • Around 15 minutes in rural areas.
  • An average of 10 minutes and 30 seconds across the state.

The government expects these response times to improve further with the deployment of AI-enabled technologies.

AI Drones to Be Introduced as First Responders

Looking ahead, Telangana Police announced plans to deploy AI-enabled drones on a pilot basis in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City Commissionerates.

These drones will serve as aerial first responders, providing real-time visual intelligence during:

  • Fire incidents
  • Road accidents
  • Natural disasters
  • Law and order situations
  • Crowd management operations
  • Search and rescue missions

The drone-based response system is expected to enhance situational awareness for command centres and enable faster deployment of emergency personnel.

Telangana Strengthens Technology-Driven Policing

With the rollout of the Next-Generation Dial 112 platform, Telangana has further strengthened its integrated emergency response infrastructure by combining Artificial Intelligence, geospatial technologies and centralized command systems.

Officials said the initiative represents a significant milestone in citizen-centric policing and emergency management, positioning Telangana among the leading states in adopting technology-enabled public safety solutions.

The integration of multiple emergency services, AI-driven decision-making and future-ready technologies such as drones is expected to improve response quality while setting new benchmarks for emergency response systems in India.
