Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai Releases 30th Mahtari Vandan Yojana Instalment for 67.20 Lakh Women

₹1,000 monthly assistance is directly transferred to eligible women, with total disbursement crossing ₹19,444.33 crore since the scheme began in March 2024.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has released the 30th instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, transferring financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of 67,20,125 eligible women across the state.

Under the scheme, eligible women receive ₹1,000 every month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The state government said the regular assistance is helping women meet expenses related to education, healthcare, nutrition and livelihoods while strengthening their economic participation in their families.

₹1,000 Monthly Assistance to Women

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is one of the state’s key welfare initiatives aimed at promoting women’s economic empowerment.

He said empowering mothers and women strengthens families, secures children’s futures and contributes to the overall development of society.

According to the Chief Minister, the scheme is not limited to providing monthly financial assistance. It is also helping improve women’s confidence, decision-making ability and participation in social and economic activities.

Women Using Scheme Benefits for Education and Livelihoods

The government said women across Chhattisgarh are using the monthly assistance for several important household and personal needs.

The funds are being utilised for:

  • Children’s education
  • Healthcare and nutrition
  • Livelihood activities
  • Household requirements
  • Savings and investments

Several women are also investing regularly in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to support the future of their daughters.

Women Starting Small Businesses and Self-Employment

CM Sai said many beneficiaries have used the financial support to start small businesses and increase their household income.

Women have taken up activities such as:

  • Tailoring and embroidery
  • Beauty parlours
  • Dairy businesses
  • Grocery shops
  • Vegetable selling
  • Animal husbandry
  • Incense-stick manufacturing
  • Other small self-employment activities

The government said these initiatives are helping women contribute more actively to household finances while creating opportunities for greater economic independence at the local level.

₹19,444 Crore Paid Through 30 Instalments

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was launched across Chhattisgarh on March 1, 2024.

With the release of the 30th instalment, the total amount distributed under the scheme has crossed ₹19,444.33 crore.

The government said regular financial assistance has had a visible impact on families across the state, particularly by improving women’s financial security and strengthening their role in household decision-making.

DBT Ensures Transparent Transfer of Funds

CM Vishnu Deo Sai said good governance is not only about introducing welfare schemes but also about ensuring that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries on time and through a transparent system.

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana uses the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to transfer ₹1,000 directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

According to the government, the DBT mechanism has improved transparency and strengthened beneficiaries’ trust in the delivery of government welfare programmes.

Government Focuses on Women’s Overall Development

CM Sai said the state government is working towards women’s overall development across multiple areas, including:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Nutrition
  • Skill development
  • Self-employment
  • Financial inclusion

He said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has become an important part of these efforts by providing women with greater financial security and social dignity.

Scheme Aims to Strengthen Women’s Economic Role

The government said the impact of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is increasingly visible among families across Chhattisgarh.

Regular financial support has contributed to greater confidence among women and increased their participation in household financial decisions. The government also highlighted increased spending on children’s education, nutrition and healthcare.

Some beneficiaries have additionally started earning through self-help groups and small businesses, creating additional sources of household income.

The state government said women’s economic empowerment is a key foundation for inclusive development and that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is aimed at strengthening the dignity, confidence and self-reliance of women while contributing to the development of Chhattisgarh.
