Chandigarh: Punjab is emerging as a major healthcare hub in northern India, thanks to a growing network of tertiary care hospitals and robust medical infrastructure. Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced that Livasa Hospital will invest ₹360 crore to establish a new multi-specialty hospital in Ludhiana, further strengthening the state’s healthcare capacity.
Strategic Location and Project Details
The new hospital will feature 368 beds and is being developed in collaboration with Primewalk Infra Private Limited. It is strategically located near Sherpur Chowk on the National Highway, ensuring easy access for patients from Ludhiana and neighboring districts.
The hospital will be built on over 9,500 sq. yards of freehold land, covering a constructed area of more than 2.3 lakh sq. ft. The project is currently under construction and is expected to become operational in phases over the next 18 months. Livasa Group is investing approximately ₹235 crore, with the total investment reaching ₹360 crore including landowners’ contributions. The project is supported by India Resurgence Fund, a joint venture of Piramal Group and Bain Capital’s Special Situations Team.
Strengthening Punjab’s Healthcare Network
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora said the investment reflects strong institutional confidence in Punjab’s healthcare sector and economic potential. Livasa Hospital already operates a strong regional network in Mohali, Amritsar, SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr), Hoshiarpur, and Khanna.
With the new Ludhiana facility, Livasa aims to increase its total bed capacity in Punjab to 2,000 beds, reinforcing the state’s advanced healthcare infrastructure.
Advanced Medical Facilities and Specialties
Livasa Hospital CEO Anurag Yadav highlighted that the hospital network currently offers:
- 38+ medical specialties
- 800+ beds including 280 ICU beds
- 250+ senior consultants
- 20 advanced operation theaters
- 6 advanced cath labs
The hospital provides tertiary and quaternary care services including cardiology and cardiac surgery, oncology and advanced cancer care, neurology and neurosurgery, robotic orthopedic surgery and joint replacement, gastroenterology and liver care, kidney transplant and nephrology, along with 24×7 critical and emergency care services.
Economic and Employment Impact
