Vidisha: Madhya Pradesh witnessed a historic boost to its infrastructure as Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation for road projects worth ₹4,400 crore in Vidisha district. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his gratitude during the event, which also saw the participation of the Union Agriculture Minister.

Grand Roadshow Welcomes Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari arrived in Vidisha at around 1 PM, greeted by a large crowd. A grand roadshow was organized, starting from Bada Bazaar and concluding at the old agricultural produce market. The public turnout reflected the excitement over the large-scale development initiatives announced for the state.

Eight National Highway Projects and More

During the program, foundation stones were laid for 8 national highway projects and 3 driving training centers, totaling over ₹4,400 crore. These projects span 181 km and are expected to transform traffic flow on major industrial, agricultural, and tourism routes connecting Bhopal, Vidisha, Sagar, Rahatgarh, and Biaora. Upon completion, the projects will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and strengthen trade and tourism corridors in Madhya Pradesh.

Gadkari Highlights Technology and Environmental Focus

Addressing the gathering, Nitin Gadkari emphasized the role of technology and environmental protection in road construction. He cited innovative projects such as selling treated toilet water in Nagpur, which generates ₹300 crore annually. Gadkari stressed the need to develop not just smart cities, but smart villages as well. He also highlighted the export of 50 lakh tons of bitumen from India and the potential of agriculture-based fuels to increase farmers’ income in the future.

Other Major Road Projects in MP

Gadkari also referenced additional ongoing and upcoming projects in the state –

  • Gwalior-Bhopal-Nagpur New Highway: ₹40,000 crore, 650 km
  • Kota-Vidisha-Sagar Greenfield Highway: ₹16,000 crore
  • Nasarullaganj-Rehti-Budhni 4-Lane Road: ₹1,000 crore

These projects are expected to further strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s transport infrastructure and integrate regional connectivity.

CM Mohan Yadav’s Address and Political Remarks

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while addressing the public meeting, announced the upcoming construction of a medical college in Raisen district. He also took a political jibe at the Congress party, stating that they were setting a record for being out of power for the third consecutive term. Yadav emphasized that the public supports those who deliver results, underlining the government’s commitment to development-focused governance.

Impact on Vidisha and Madhya Pradesh

The inauguration of these projects marks a significant milestone for Vidisha and surrounding regions. The enhanced road connectivity will boost trade, tourism, and agriculture, improve safety, and reduce congestion. Citizens and industries alike are expected to benefit from smoother, faster travel and better infrastructure standards.
