Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Friday executed a major reshuffle of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and six non-conferred (NC) officers, along with minor transfers among Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials, issuing orders for postings across different zones in the reorganized commissionerates.

The move aims to strengthen administrative efficiency and improve the functioning of traffic wings following the tri-commissionerate reorganization, according to a press release by Director-General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy.

Minor IAS Transfers Implemented

Alongside the IPS changes, the government also effected minor transfers within the IAS cadre. Key moves include:

K. Haritha, previously Special Secretary, Finance, has been transferred and appointed as Collector of Komuram Bheem Asifabad district, replacing Venkatesh Dhotre, who has been posted as Special Secretary, Education.

K. Nikhila, Joint Director-General at Dr. MCRHRD Institute, has been transferred and posted as Director, Fisheries. She will continue to hold Full Additional Charge (FAC) of the post of CEO, Telangana Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD).

J. Bhavani Shankar, Non-Cadre Joint Secretary to the Governor, has been transferred and appointed as Executive Officer, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, Yadagirigutta.

These IAS transfers are designed to ensure smoother administrative operations at the district and departmental levels, complementing the larger police restructuring.

Major IPS Reshuffle Across Commissionerates

The state’s IPS cadre witnessed significant transfers and postings on Saturday as part of the government’s strategy to bolster law enforcement and administrative efficiency. The reshuffle covers officers across various zones of the reorganized Hyderabad police commissionerates. Director-General B. Shivadhar Reddy confirmed that the reorganization particularly focused on enhancing traffic management and administrative operations.

While specific officer postings were part of the released orders, this reshuffle reflects the government’s continued efforts to optimize policing structures and ensure smooth functioning across all jurisdictions.

Focus on Traffic and Administrative Efficiency

The reshuffle comes after the state government’s initiative to reorganize the tri-commissionerates, with a particular focus on improving traffic management across Hyderabad. By realigning IPS officers in critical positions and updating IAS postings, the government aims to optimize both policing and administrative workflows.

Officials noted that the combined impact of minor IAS transfers and major IPS reshuffle will lead to more efficient governance, streamlined departmental coordination, and improved responsiveness to citizen needs.

Looking Ahead

While the current orders have been implemented, officials suggest that further reshuffles could follow, especially as the government continues to evaluate departmental performance and organizational requirements. Observers see this as part of the Telangana government’s broader strategy to strengthen governance and law enforcement ahead of key development initiatives.
