Bhopal: In a major administrative development, Madhya Pradesh is set to appoint 16 new IAS officers in the next two months. These officers will be promoted from the State Administrative Service (SAS), as the General Administration Department has resumed the process of awarding the IAS title, which had been delayed for several years due to controversies.

The IAS award process had been stuck for the year 2023 due to certain controversies, which led to a significant delay. However, the process for both the 2023 and 2024 IAS awards will now be completed simultaneously. As part of the decision, a total of 16 officers will receive the IAS award, doubling the usual quota of 8 IAS officers awarded annually in the state.

The proposal for these awards is expected to be sent to Delhi within the next 15 days, where a final meeting will take place to formalize the decisions.
