Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee has expressed her sincere condolences and grief on the unfortunate demise of Dr. Arun Prakash Mukherjee. Mr. Mukherjee was a retired IPS officer. He had held various important positions in the state. The former DG and IGP of the state was ill from a long time.
He also served as the CBI Director. He was recently honoured by the Bango Vibhushan Samman. This title is presented by the government of West Bengal to honour the personalities from various field.
Mr. Mukherji retired in 1991 as the DG of state police. After that he was appointed as the governor of Mizoram for a short period in 1998. His eldest son Amitabh Mukherjee is also an IAS officer. Mr. Mukherji also wrote many book after his retirement.
