Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal (IPS) was recently appointed the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Officer Dhaliwal last served as the Special Commissioner of Police in New Delhi, overseeing traffic zone II.
Mr. Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer, has secured several significant milestones through his almost three-decade stint with India’s premium police service. He was instrumental in solving high-profile cases such as the Dhaula Kuan gangrape, journalist Saumya Vishwanathan’s murder, and the Jigisha Ghosh murder case. He also played a pivotal role in investigating the murder case involving Punjabi singer-turned-politician Mr. Sidhu Moosewala.
Officer Dhaliwal, a notable alumnus of Punjab University, is expected to orchestrate a new era in the law enforcement department of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
