New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has promoted seven police officers from Telangana to the Indian Police Service (IPS) on probation, marking their induction into the prestigious All India Service.
The officers have been appointed to the IPS on probation in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954.
The seven officers are Ravinder Puligilla, B Sree Bala Devi, V Arvinda Babu, B Raja Mahendra Naik, B Sai Sri, I Pooja and P Karunakar.

One-Year Probation Period
As per the order, all seven officers will remain on probation for a period of one year.
Their probation will be governed by the provisions of the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, which prescribe the conditions and requirements applicable to officers inducted into the service.
The probation period is intended to provide newly inducted IPS officers with the required professional orientation and exposure before they take up their responsibilities as members of the All India Police Service.
Induction Training Mandatory for Officers
The newly promoted officers will also undergo induction training in accordance with sub-rule 5(4) of the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954.
The relevant provision was amended on May 10, 2011, and the officers will undergo training as prescribed under the amended rules.
The induction programme is an important component of the transition into the IPS, equipping officers with the institutional knowledge, professional skills and understanding required for their responsibilities.
MHA Issues Order
The promotion and probation-related directions were communicated by Uday Prakash Gupta, Under Secretary to the Government of India.
The order specifies that the officers will be subject to the applicable provisions of the IPS Probation Rules and will undergo the prescribed induction training.
The induction of the seven officers adds to the strength of the IPS cadre in Telangana and marks an important step in their transition into the Indian Police Service.
