New Delhi: The Ministry of Steel will conduct an Open House on September 24, 2026, to discuss issues related to the import of steel. The session will provide companies and industry associations an opportunity to raise concerns related to SIMS, SARAL SIMS and Quality Control Order (QCO) exemptions.
The Open House will be held at the Steel Room, 3rd Floor, GPOA-3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Companies Can Raise Steel Import Issues
Companies and associations facing issues related to steel imports can present their concerns during the Open House.
The session will particularly cover matters related to:
- SIMS (Steel Import Monitoring System)
- SARAL SIMS
- QCO exemption
- Applications related to the above processes
Participants will be given specific time slots through email after confirmation from the Ministry.
How to Participate in Open House
Companies and associations interested in participating must send an email to tech-steel[at]nic[dot]in to request a confirmed time slot.
The email should include the following information:
- Name of the company/association
- Type of industry and product, such as auto, aerospace, telecom or defence
- Whether the issue relates to SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO exemption
- Reference number of the SIMS/SARAL SIMS/QCO exemption application, if applicable
- Brief description of the issue, limited to 50 words
- Name and designation of the participant
- Mobile number and email address
The Ministry has clarified that third-party representation will not be allowed.
Deadline to Request Time Slot
Companies and associations seeking to participate must send their requests by September 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
The Ministry will communicate the confirmed time slots to participants through email.
No Walk-Ins, One Representative Per Organisation
The Open House will be conducted from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on September 24.
The Ministry has stated that walk-ins will not be permitted due to logistical constraints. To ensure wider participation, only one representative from each organisation will be allowed to attend.
Participants are therefore required to obtain a confirmed time slot in advance.
Open House Aims to Address Steel Import Concerns
The initiative will provide an opportunity for affected companies and industry associations to directly raise issues concerning the import of steel and related regulatory processes.
The Ministry of Steel has invited eligible companies and associations to submit their requests within the specified deadline to participate in the September 24 Open House.
