New Delhi: The Ministry of Steel and its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are set to participate in Special Campaign 6.0, scheduled to be observed from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign will focus on strengthening cleanliness, sustainability and efficient governance, with special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.

The campaign will build on the achievements of Special Campaign 5.0 and introduce a sharper focus on sustainable practices and administrative efficiency.

Special Campaign 6.0 to Focus on Four Key Areas

The Ministry of Steel has identified four priority areas for the campaign:

  • E-Waste Management: Effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.
  • Mechanised Cleaning Practices: Greater use of modern and mechanised cleaning methods to improve workplace hygiene and efficiency.
  • Timely Disposal of Pendency: Clearance of pending references related to the PMO, State Governments, Parliament and VIP matters, along with systematic disposal of old files and records.
  • Awareness and Engagement: Use of digital platforms and outreach activities to promote awareness and encourage public participation in cleanliness initiatives.

Ministry Builds on Special Campaign 5.0 Achievements

During Special Campaign 5.0 in October 2025, the Ministry of Steel and its PSUs undertook extensive cleanliness and administrative activities across their offices and facilities.

The campaign resulted in progress in several areas, including:

  • Clearance of pending matters.
  • Disposal of obsolete files and records.
  • Optimisation of available office space.
  • Improved record management.
  • Greater efficiency in service delivery.

These activities provided a foundation for continuing sustainable record management and improving administrative processes.

Sustained Efforts Continued After Previous Campaign

Following Special Campaign 5.0, the Ministry continued efforts to maintain the progress achieved during the campaign.

Outdated records were weeded out, while processes for scrap disposal were streamlined. The Ministry also worked towards addressing grievances more efficiently.

These sustained efforts reflect the Ministry’s approach of treating Swachhata and administrative efficiency as continuous processes, rather than limiting them to campaign periods.

Two-Phase Implementation of Special Campaign 6.0

Special Campaign 6.0 will be conducted in two phases.

Preparatory Phase: September 15–30, 2026

During the preparatory phase, the Ministry and its PSUs will identify targets and undertake the necessary groundwork for the campaign.

Implementation Phase: October 2–31, 2026

The implementation phase will focus on executing the identified activities, monitoring progress and achieving measurable outcomes.

The two-phase approach is intended to ensure that campaign activities are planned effectively and implemented in a systematic manner.

Focus on Sustainable and Citizen-Centric Governance

Through Special Campaign 6.0, the Ministry of Steel aims to strengthen its efforts towards cleanliness, sustainable practices and efficient administration.

The emphasis on e-waste management will support responsible handling of electronic waste, while mechanised cleaning and timely disposal of pending matters are expected to improve workplace efficiency.

The Ministry also plans to use digital platforms and outreach activities to increase awareness and encourage wider participation in cleanliness initiatives.

The campaign reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to Swachhata, grievance redressal, sustainable practices and efficient, citizen-centric governance.
