New Delhi: In a significant development for India’s public sector steel sector, MNVS Prabhakar, currently serving as Executive Director at NMDC Steel Limited, has been recommended for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity that operates the Vizag Steel Plant.
The recommendation was made by the Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) during a meeting convened by the Ministry of Steel in New Delhi on March 14, 2026. The committee interviewed several senior executives from major public sector steel companies before finalizing its decision.
Selection Process for the Top Leadership Role
The Search-cum-Selection Committee conducted interviews with five senior executives from leading public sector steel organizations to identify the most suitable candidate for the top leadership position at RINL.
The candidates interviewed included:
- MNVS Prabhakar – Executive Director, NMDC Steel Limited
- S. Subbaraj – Executive Director, Alloy Steels Plant, Steel Authority of India Limited
- Bipin Kumar Giri – Executive Director (Mines Development), Steel Authority of India Limited
- Munna Prasad Singh – Executive Director (Mines), OGOM, CMLO, Steel Authority of India Limited
- Rakesh Kumar – Executive Director (Works), Bhilai Steel Plant
After evaluating their leadership experience, operational performance, and strategic vision for the company’s future, the committee recommended MNVS Prabhakar for the CMD position.
