Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that all urban development projects in the state be implemented in alignment with the Developed India @2047 vision. Speaking at the 11th Board Meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company (MPUDC) held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasized improving the financial health of urban local bodies, promoting private investment, and increasing the use of IT-based systems in citizen services.
Dr. Yadav also stressed the importance of encouraging urban mobility and the adoption of electric vehicles, as well as launching initiatives similar to the Namami Gange Mission, such as the Namami Narmade Project, to enhance solid and liquid waste management, environmental conservation, and treated water reuse along Narmada riverfront settlements.
“Special attention must be given to water supply and sewerage systems in all urban local bodies to ensure efficiency and sustainability,” Dr. Yadav said.

Four Specialized Divisions Proposed for MPUDC
During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved the formation of four independent divisions under MPUDC to streamline urban development initiatives:
- Asset Management & PPP Division: Focused on making urban local bodies self-reliant, promoting private sector participation in public welfare projects, ensuring financial discipline, coordinating with the NITI Aayog and other departments, and prioritizing metropolitan area development. Innovative proposals such as solar projects, green bonds, and alternative use of idle assets will also be explored.
- Information Technology Division: Will operate smart city systems including e-Municipality platforms, CCTV-GIS monitoring, upgraded citizen service platforms, e-toll collection portals, and online revenue collection mechanisms.
- Urban Mobility Division: Plans to implement the MP EV Policy, establish multi-modal transport hubs, ropeways, multi-level parking, public bicycle services, city mobility plans, and EV charging infrastructure.
- Namami Narmade & Green & River Conservation Division: Will focus on riverfront development, environmental protection, and integrated planning for the Narmada and Tapi rivers, considering their cultural and religious significance.
Coordinated Development Across Departments
The Chief Minister directed all relevant departments—including Urban Development & Housing, Panchayati Raj, Industries, and Forest & Environment—to work in a coordinated manner for the successful implementation of riverfront and urban development projects.
The meeting was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Pratima Bagri, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajora, MPUDC officials, and other senior officers, where key managerial, financial, and audit-related issues were discussed and decisions finalized.
Dr. Yadav also instructed that planned development plans be prepared for the areas surrounding urban local bodies to ensure balanced urban growth across the state.
