Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Announces Committee to Review Bhopal Building Occupancy Violations

The committee will examine occupancy violations in Bhopal and submit recommendations to the state government, after which the Bhopal Municipal Corporation will act as per the prescribed procedure.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government will constitute a committee to examine issues related to occupancy violations in constructed areas of Bhopal city and recommend policy decisions in the interest of the environment and the broader public interest.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav with public representatives and senior officials from Bhopal. Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal was also present at the meeting.

The committee will study all aspects related to compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders concerning occupancy violations in buildings in Bhopal. Following the committee’s recommendations, the state government will determine the process for further action. Until then, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation will not take any strict action in these matters.

Committee to Examine Bhopal Building Occupancy Violation Issues

The meeting discussed the formation of a committee to examine the process and policy decisions required for compliance with orders passed by the Supreme Court.

The committee will study matters related to occupancy violations in constructed buildings in Bhopal in light of the order passed in Civil Appeal No. 14604/2024 dated December 17, 2024, and the order passed in Miscellaneous Appeal Diary No. 1713/2026.

After receiving the committee’s recommendations, the state government will establish the appropriate procedure for implementing the Supreme Court’s orders.

Based on the procedure determined by the state government, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation will take further action.

No Strict Action by Bhopal Municipal Corporation for Now

The state government has clarified that the Bhopal Municipal Corporation will not take any stringent action related to the matter at present.

The committee will first examine all relevant aspects and submit its report to the state government. After considering the report, the government may determine the appropriate process for further action.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation will implement the decision according to the procedure determined by the state government.

Who Will Head the Committee?

The committee will be headed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department.

The following officials will be members of the committee:

  • Additional Chief Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department
  • Secretary, Labour Department
  • Commissioner, Urban Administration and Development
  • Inspector General, Registration and Stamps
  • Member Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board
  • Deputy Secretary, Environment Department
  • Commissioner, Town and Country Planning

The Collector, Bhopal, and Commissioner, Bhopal Municipal Corporation, will be included as special invitee members.

Committee to Submit Report to State Government

The committee will conduct a detailed study of all aspects related to compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders and submit its report to the state government.

After examining the committee’s report, the state government will consider the recommendations and determine the required procedure.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation will then be required to take action according to the process laid down by the state government.

CM Mohan Yadav Holds Meeting with Bhopal Representatives

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held the meeting with public representatives from Bhopal and senior government officials to discuss the issue.

  • Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal

  • Commissioner, Town and Country Planning, Kaushlendra Singh
  • Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra
  • Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sanskriti Jain

The meeting concluded that the committee’s recommendations and the procedure determined by the state government will form the basis for further action, while no strict action will be taken by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation until then.
