Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ through video conferencing, calling upon the country’s youth to lead a mass movement against drug abuse and contribute to the vision of a developed India.

The Prime Minister said that the youth are the strongest foundation of a Viksit Bharat and protecting them from the menace of drugs is a collective responsibility of the entire country.He also highlighted the threat posed by the illegal drug trade, stating that it is part of the terrorist agenda of hostile countries aimed at weakening India’s youth power.

Over One Crore Youth Join Drug-Free India Campaign

According to Prime Minister Modi, more than one crore young people from over 28,000 locations across the country have joined the campaign. Calling for a nationwide people’s movement against drug abuse, the Prime Minister said the coming 100 Sundays will become 100 strong steps towards building a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India).

The campaign aims to encourage young people, families and communities to actively participate in efforts to prevent drug abuse and create greater awareness about its harmful effects.

Government Taking Strict Action Against Drug Mafias

Prime Minister Modi said the government is taking strong action against drug mafias and those involved in the illegal drug trade.

He highlighted the government’s efforts to curb drug trafficking, stating that:

  • Arrests in drug-related cases have increased significantly compared to the past.
  • Narcotic substances worth thousands of crores of rupees have been seized.
  • Strict action is being taken against drug mafias involved in illegal activities.

The Prime Minister also urged families not to hide the problem if a young person falls victim to drug addiction. Instead, families should support affected individuals by seeking proper treatment and counselling to help them return to a normal life.

Campaign to Organise Activities Every Sunday

As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign, various activities will be organised across the country every Sunday to spread awareness and encourage public participation.

These activities will include:

  • Sports competitions
  • Walkathons
  • Yoga sessions
  • Meditation programmes
  • Street plays
  • Cultural programmes
  • Public awareness activities

The campaign will continue to engage communities and young people through regular activities aimed at promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.Volunteers and organisations that perform outstanding work during the campaign will also be recognised and honoured in the 50th, 75th and 100th weeks.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Joins Campaign in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also participated in the programme and described Prime Minister Modi’s initiative as a visionary step.The Chief Minister said that the youth must be healthy, aware and free from drug abuse to achieve the goal of building a developed India.

CM Dhami Appeals for Public Participation

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to actively join the nationwide campaign and contribute to building a drug-free society. He said collective participation from citizens, particularly young people, is essential for strengthening the fight against drug abuse and achieving the broader vision of a developed India and a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

The campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to strengthen public awareness and encourage greater participation in efforts to prevent drug abuse, support affected individuals and build a healthier future for India’s youth.
