MP CM Mohan Yadav Says UCC Will Ensure Equal Rights for All, Highlights Widespread Public Support

CM Mohan Yadav says the Uniform Civil Code will introduce common laws for marriage, divorce and inheritance, as the Madhya Pradesh government records feedback from over 3.5 crore people during statewide consultations.

Bhopal/Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has reiterated the state government’s commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that it will establish a common legal framework for all citizens in matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and family-related issues. The Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at ensuring equal rights, equal justice, and social harmony in line with the spirit of the Indian Constitution.

Speaking during his visit to Indore, Dr. Yadav also highlighted the overwhelming public support the proposed law has received from various religious communities and social organisations.

CM Mohan Yadav Receives Public Support for Uniform Civil Code

On his arrival at Indore Airport, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was welcomed by representatives of different religious communities and members of several social organisations.

The delegations expressed their support for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and thanked the Chief Minister for taking what they described as an important step toward ensuring equality before the law.

The Chief Minister appreciated the support and said the trust shown by different sections of society would further strengthen inclusive development and social harmony in Madhya Pradesh.

UCC to Bring Uniform Laws for Marriage, Divorce and Inheritance

Addressing the media, Dr. Mohan Yadav explained that once implemented, the Uniform Civil Code will provide a single legal framework for all citizens in matters related to:

  • Marriage
  • Divorce
  • Inheritance
  • Family laws

He said the objective of the legislation is to ensure that every citizen enjoys equal rights and equal justice irrespective of religious or social background, in accordance with the constitutional principles of equality.

The Chief Minister clarified that the proposed law is not intended to target any particular community, but rather to simplify legal processes and make them more transparent, fair, and just.

Government Conducted Extensive Public Consultation Across the State

The Madhya Pradesh government carried out a statewide public consultation campaign lasting nearly two months before moving forward with the Uniform Civil Code.

According to the Chief Minister:

  • More than 3.5 crore people were contacted during the campaign.
  • Citizens were invited to share their suggestions and opinions on the proposed legislation.
  • The government received positive feedback from various sections of society.

Dr. Yadav said the large-scale participation demonstrated that people support a legal system based on equality and justice.

UCC Reflects the Spirit of the Constitution, Says Chief Minister

The Chief Minister stated that the Uniform Civil Code is intended to uphold the core values of the Indian Constitution by promoting:

  • Equal rights for all citizens
  • Equal justice
  • Social harmony
  • Equality before the law
  • Inclusive development

He added that the state government remains committed to protecting the interests of every section of society while ensuring equal opportunities for all.

CM Calls UCC a Historic Step Towards Nation Building

Before leaving for Bhabra, the birthplace of freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad, Dr. Mohan Yadav interacted with the media and described the Uniform Civil Code as a historic step.

He said India’s freedom fighters had envisioned a nation where every citizen would enjoy equal opportunities and equal rights.

According to the Chief Minister, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving toward fulfilling that vision, and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code is an important milestone in that journey.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Development and Good Governance

Dr. Mohan Yadav described both the Uniform Civil Code initiative and the new infrastructure project as important milestones in the state’s development journey.

He said the Madhya Pradesh government is working towards:

  • Good governance
  • Equal opportunities
  • Inclusive development
  • Better public infrastructure
  • Social justice

The Chief Minister congratulated the people of Indore and Madhya Pradesh, saying the government’s ultimate goal is to take the state to new heights of progress through development and equal opportunities for every citizen.

With extensive public consultations completed and growing support from various social and religious groups, the Madhya Pradesh government is moving ahead with preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code.According to the state government, the proposed law seeks to establish a uniform legal framework that guarantees equal rights and justice for all citizens, while promoting transparency, social harmony, and constitutional values across the state.
