Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the first arm of the state’s first double-layer flyover bridge at Lav Kush Square in Indore, describing the project as a landmark achievement in modern infrastructure and advanced engineering. Built at a cost of ₹175 crore, the flyover is expected to significantly improve traffic flow on the busy Indore-Ujjain corridor while supporting the city’s long-term urban development plans.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said, “Indore and development are synonymous with each other,” adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both Madhya Pradesh and the country are witnessing rapid infrastructure growth.

Madhya Pradesh’s First Double-Layer Flyover Opens in Indore

The newly inaugurated flyover is the first double-layer flyover bridge in Madhya Pradesh and has been constructed by the Indore Development Authority (IDA).

The opening of the first arm will allow traffic to move from Aurobindo Hospital towards Banganga, reducing congestion at one of Indore’s busiest intersections. Construction of the second arm is in its final stage and is expected to open soon.

₹175 Crore Project to Improve Traffic and Connectivity

Built with an investment of ₹175 crore, the flyover is designed to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion on the Indore-Ujjain route, especially with the upcoming Simhastha 2028 in mind.

According to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the project will deliver several benefits, including:

  • Reduced travel time
  • Smoother traffic movement
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Less traffic congestion
  • Safer and more convenient commuting for residents

He described the project as an important milestone in the vision of a Developed Indore and Developed Madhya Pradesh.

Three-Level Traffic System Is the Flyover’s Biggest Feature

The Chief Minister highlighted that the flyover’s most significant feature is its three-tier traffic management system, which is designed to ease congestion at Lav Kush Square.

The three levels include:

  • First Level: Regular surface traffic at Lav Kush Square
  • Second Level: Existing flyover along with the Metro Rail corridor
  • Third Level: Newly constructed double-layer flyover

This integrated traffic design is expected to reduce vehicle pressure at the intersection and ensure uninterrupted movement.

Advanced Engineering Makes the Flyover a Landmark Project

The flyover is regarded as one of Madhya Pradesh’s most significant engineering achievements.

Key engineering features include:

  • Total length: Approximately 1,450 metres
  • Height: Around 22 metres
  • Main span: 65 metres long and 24 metres wide
  • Steel structure: Two 400-tonne steel bow-string girders
  • Total steel used: Around 800 tonnes

The use of advanced steel structures and modern construction technology places the project among the state’s major infrastructure accomplishments.

Project to Support Simhastha 2028 Traffic Management

The Chief Minister said the flyover has been planned keeping Simhastha 2028, one of the country’s largest religious gatherings, in mind.

The improved road infrastructure will help manage the expected increase in traffic between Indore and Ujjain, ensuring smoother transportation for residents, commuters, and pilgrims.

Flyover to Become a Symbol of Modern Urban Development

Dr. Mohan Yadav said the project represents a major step toward modern urban infrastructure and will become an important identity of Indore’s future growth.

He noted that the flyover reflects the state’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure that supports economic growth, better mobility, and improved quality of life.

Senior Leaders and Officials Attend Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several public representatives and senior officials, including:

  • Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav
  • MLA Ramesh Mendola
  • MLA Golu Shukla
  • Sumit Mishra
  • Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade
  • Inspector General of Police Anurag
  • Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh
  • Collector Shivam Verma
  • Indore Development Authority CEO Dr. Parikshit Jhade

Indore Continues to Lead Madhya Pradesh’s Infrastructure Growth

With the inauguration of the first arm of the state’s first double-layer flyover, Indore has added another landmark infrastructure project to its rapidly expanding urban landscape.

Once both arms become operational, the flyover is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, strengthen connectivity on the Indore-Ujjain corridor, and support the city’s future transportation needs while reinforcing Madhya Pradesh’s focus on modern infrastructure development.
