ECIL Appoints Proteek Kumar Chakraborty as Director (Personnel) in Additional Charge

Hyderabad: Mr. Proteek Kumar Chakraborty, Director (Finance) of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), has assumed the additional charge of Director (Personnel) with effect from July 22, 2026. The appointment adds the responsibility of overseeing the company’s human resources and personnel functions alongside his existing finance portfolio.

ECIL, a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), is a Miniratna Category-I company and one of India’s leading public sector enterprises in strategic electronics.

Proteek Kumar Chakraborty Assumes Additional Charge as Director (Personnel)

With effect from July 22, 2026, Mr. Proteek Kumar Chakraborty has taken on the additional responsibility of Director (Personnel) while continuing to serve as Director (Finance) at ECIL.

In his expanded role, he is expected to oversee key personnel and human resource functions in addition to managing the organisation’s financial operations.

The move comes as ECIL continues to strengthen its leadership team to support its strategic growth and operational excellence.

Over Three Decades of Experience in Finance and Corporate Leadership

Mr. Chakraborty is an accomplished finance professional with more than 32 years of experience across diverse areas of:

  • Corporate finance
  • Financial management
  • Accounting
  • Internal audit
  • Power sector regulation
  • Business operations
  • Project finance
  • Corporate governance

His extensive experience spans both the public sector and regulatory institutions.

Educational Qualifications and Professional Credentials

Mr. Proteek Kumar Chakraborty holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi.

He is also a distinguished professional member of:

  • The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI)
  • The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)

His qualifications have supported a long career in finance, corporate governance, and strategic management.

Held Key Leadership Positions at BHEL

Before joining ECIL, Mr. Chakraborty served in several leadership roles at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

During his tenure at BHEL, he worked across multiple business functions, including:

  • Manufacturing units
  • Corporate finance
  • Core business sectors
  • Internal audit
  • Corporate offices
  • Large-scale project execution

His experience covered both operational and strategic financial management across the organisation.

Served at Central Electricity Regulatory Commission

Mr. Chakraborty also served as Chief (Finance) at the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), a position equivalent to the rank of Joint Secretary in the Government of India.

At CERC, he handled several critical responsibilities, including:

  • Financial modelling
  • Power sector licensing
  • Tariff order issuance
  • Regulatory framework development
  • Financial policy matters

His work contributed to regulatory decision-making in India’s electricity sector.

Leadership Expected to Strengthen ECIL’s Growth

With his additional responsibility as Director (Personnel), Mr. Chakraborty is expected to contribute to strengthening ECIL’s human resource management while continuing to lead the company’s financial strategy.

His combined expertise in finance, governance, and public sector management is expected to support ECIL’s long-term organisational development and operational efficiency.
