New Delhi: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar, to implement a structured skill training program aimed at empowering rural youths residing near its operational areas.
MoU Signed to Empower Rural Youths
The MoU was formalized in the presence of NALCO Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Brijendra Pratap Singh, Director (HR) Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, and senior officials from both organizations. This partnership marks a significant step towards skill development for youth living around NALCO’s operational sites.

Details of the Skill Training Program
Under this initiative, 60 youths—30 each from villages near NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex at Damanjodi and Smelter & Power Complex at Angul—will undergo a comprehensive three-month residential training program covering multiple trades. The curriculum aligns with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) set by the National Skill Development Council, Government of India, to ensure industry-relevant skill development.

CMD Brijendra Pratap Singh emphasized the importance of the program, stating, “This initiative is a step towards empowering local youths with industry-ready skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through this partnership with SDI, NALCO is committed to nurturing talent at the grassroots level.”
