New Delhi: State-run National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) has announced a key change in its board and senior management, with Tarun Kumar Batra (T.K. Batra) promoted as Executive Director of the company, effective September 1, 2026.
The company also announced that J. Ramesh, who was serving as Executive Director (Finance & Accounts), ceased to hold the position from September 1 following his superannuation on August 31, 2026.
T.K. Batra Promoted as NFL Executive Director
Prior to his promotion, T.K. Batra was serving as Chief General Manager and Unit Head of NFL’s Bathinda Unit, a position he has held since February 29, 2024.
Batra brings more than 38 years of experience in the fertilizer industry. He joined NFL in 1988 as a Management Trainee and subsequently held several positions of increasing responsibility across the company’s major units.
His career at NFL has included assignments at:
- Nangal Unit
- Vijaipur Unit
- Bathinda Unit
His extensive operational experience spans ammonia-urea plant operations, commissioning, plant stabilisation, maintenance, projects and overall unit management.
Extensive Experience in Fertilizer Plant Operations
Throughout his career, Batra has been involved in several major initiatives aimed at improving plant performance and operational efficiency.
His areas of expertise include:
- Ammonia and urea plant operations
- Plant commissioning and stabilisation
- Maintenance management
- Project execution
- Energy optimisation
- Plant revamp
- Operational improvement
- Overall unit management
He has also contributed to initiatives focused on energy efficiency and plant performance improvement during his long association with NFL.
Batra Served at Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals
Batra also served on deputation with Ramagundam Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (RFCL), where he was associated with the stabilisation of the newly commissioned fertilizer complex.
The assignment added to his experience in commissioning and stabilising large-scale fertilizer manufacturing facilities.
He has also been associated with several major plant revamp and energy-efficiency initiatives during his career.
Educational Background of T.K. Batra
T.K. Batra is a chemical engineer with a strong technical and management background.
His educational qualifications include:
- B.E. in Chemical Engineering from NIT Durgapur
- MBA in Finance
His combination of technical expertise and financial management education has supported his experience in handling large-scale fertilizer plant operations and organisational responsibilities.
J. Ramesh Retires After Superannuation
Alongside Batra’s appointment, NFL announced the cessation of J. Ramesh as Executive Director (F&A) with effect from September 1, 2026.
Ramesh ceased to hold the position after attaining the age of superannuation on August 31, 2026.
The changes mark a transition in NFL’s senior management as the company brings in Batra’s extensive operational and technical experience at the Executive Director level.
