Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority (MPRRDA), Singrauli, for the construction of an 8-kilometre pucca road under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The road project will connect Obri to Kasaiya via Kanhaiya Dah in Singrauli district and aims to strengthen rural infrastructure while improving mobility for residents of surrounding villages.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of Singrauli District Collector Gaurav Beniwal. NCL was represented by General Manager (CSR) Rajiv Ranjan, while MPRRDA, Singrauli, was represented by General Manager Ganesh Prasad Mishra.

₹11.71 Crore CSR Funding for Road Construction

Under the agreement, NCL will provide financial assistance of ₹11.71 crore for the development of the 8-kilometre road.

The project includes:

  • Construction of an all-weather pucca road.
  • Development of cross-drainage structures.
  • Construction of bridges and culverts wherever required.
  • Improved road safety and smoother movement for villagers.

The initiative reflects NCL’s commitment to supporting sustainable community development through infrastructure projects in mining regions.

Improved Connectivity for Villages in Singrauli

The newly developed road is expected to provide a shorter and more convenient route for villagers travelling towards Devsar Block.

The improved connectivity will be especially beneficial during the monsoon season when rural roads often face accessibility challenges. The project will help ensure smoother transportation throughout the year.

Better road infrastructure is also expected to support local economic growth by:

  • Helping farmers transport agricultural produce to nearby markets.
  • Improving access to education and healthcare facilities.
  • Supporting local businesses and livelihood opportunities.
  • Enhancing movement of people and goods in the region.

Project Recommended by Local Representatives

The road construction project was earlier recommended by the Member of Parliament from Sidhi and the MLA from Devsar, highlighting its importance for regional development and public convenience.

With the signing of the MoU, NCL’s CSR contribution will help transform this recommendation into a major infrastructure initiative benefiting communities in Singrauli.

NCL’s Commitment Towards Community Development

Through its CSR initiatives, NCL continues to undertake projects focused on improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, skill development and livelihood opportunities in areas surrounding its mining operations.

The company works towards inclusive growth by supporting projects that directly improve the quality of life of local communities.
