Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has launched a new welfare initiative, ‘Udaan’, aimed at helping students from its family and surrounding communities prepare for national-level engineering and medical entrance examinations.
As part of the initiative, NCL signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Sri Chaitanya Academy and SSG EQ LLP to provide coaching for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The coaching will be conducted after school hours at NCL DAV schools in Dudhichua and Khadia.
NCL’s ‘Udaan’ Initiative to Support JEE and NEET Aspirants
The Udaan initiative has been designed to provide students in the remote Singrauli region with access to quality entrance examination coaching without requiring them to move to major cities.
Under the programme:
- JEE and NEET coaching will be provided after regular school hours.
- Classes will be conducted at NCL DAV school campuses in Dudhichua and Khadia.
- Students from the NCL family and peripheral communities will be eligible to benefit.
- The initiative aims to provide coaching at affordable fees.
- Students can prepare for competitive examinations while continuing their regular schooling and staying close to home.
The programme seeks to bridge the gap between students in remote mining regions and those who have access to specialised coaching facilities in metropolitan cities.

MoUs Signed With Two Coaching Institutes
NCL has partnered with Sri Chaitanya Academy and SSG EQ LLP for implementing the coaching programme.
The two institutions will provide specialised preparation for students appearing for JEE and NEET, two of India’s major entrance examinations for engineering and medical education.
The partnership is intended to bring structured coaching and academic support directly to students in the NCL operational area.
Senior NCL Officials Present at MoU Signing
The MoUs were signed in the presence of senior NCL officials, including:
- N. Franklin Jayakumar, CMD, NCL
- Manish Kumar, Director (Human Resources)
- Ashutosh Dwivedi, Director (Technical)
On behalf of NCL, the agreements were signed by Rajesh Trivedi, General Manager (HR/Welfare).
Representatives from the two coaching institutes and several trade union leaders were also present during the MoU signing ceremony.
Initiative Aims to Create Equal Opportunities for Students
The Udaan initiative focuses on creating better educational opportunities for meritorious students from the Singrauli region.
Students preparing for JEE and NEET often seek specialised coaching, which can require families to spend considerable amounts on travel, accommodation and other expenses in larger cities. By bringing coaching facilities closer to students, NCL aims to reduce these challenges.
The initiative is expected to help students:
- Save time and travel costs.
- Access quality coaching closer to home.
- Continue their regular education while preparing for entrance examinations.
- Compete more effectively in national-level examinations.
- Access coaching opportunities comparable to those available in metropolitan areas.
Through Udaan, NCL is extending its welfare efforts beyond conventional community development activities and focusing on education and career opportunities for students in and around its operational areas.
