New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday appointed Neeraj Agrawal (YOA: 2009) as the next Ambassador of India to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Agrawal, who is currently serving in the MEA, is expected to assume his new role shortly, according to an official statement.
The MEA said, “Neeraj Agrawal (YOA: 2009), presently posted in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.”

Adarsh Swaika Concurrently Appointed Ambassador to Somalia
In another key diplomatic development, Dr. Adarsh Swaika (IFS: 2002), currently High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Kenya, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Somalia. He will continue to be based in Nairobi while handling his new responsibilities.
The MEA stated, “Dr. Adarsh Swaika (IFS: 2002), presently High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Kenya, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Somalia, with residence in Nairobi. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.”

About the Appointees
Neeraj Agrawal: 2009 batch officer, Young Officers’ Academy (YOA), Ministry of External Affairs. He has served in various diplomatic and administrative roles within the MEA and is expected to strengthen India-Mauritania bilateral relations.
Dr. Adarsh Swaika: 2002 batch IFS officer, experienced diplomat currently serving as India’s High Commissioner to Kenya. His concurrent accreditation to Somalia will bolster India’s engagement in the Horn of Africa region.
These appointments reflect India’s continued focus on strengthening diplomatic ties in Africa and expanding its strategic engagement in key regions.
