New Delhi / Hyderabad: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to collaborate on the development of renewable energy (RE) projects across India. The agreement was formalised today in Hyderabad and exchanged in the presence of N. Balram (IRS), Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL, along with senior officials from both organisations.

Focus on Multi-Technology Renewable Energy Expansion

Under this strategic partnership, NGEL and SCCL will jointly identify, evaluate, and pursue business opportunities in various renewable energy segments. These include large-scale solar power plants, onshore wind projects, and hybrid systems that combine solar, wind, and storage elements.

The collaboration is expected to leverage the technical strengths and operational experience of both entities, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to India’s growing demand for green power.

Exploring Future-Ready Clean Energy Avenues

Beyond traditional RE projects, the MoU also covers advanced clean energy technologies. The companies will assess opportunities in energy storage systems, green hydrogen and its derivatives, and green mobility solutions. These emerging areas are likely to play a crucial role in supporting India’s long-term climate commitments and decarbonisation goals.

Aligned with National Clean Energy Vision

The initiative is closely aligned with the strategic directions of both NGEL and SCCL, which are seeking to broaden their renewable energy portfolios and support India’s rapid transition toward low-carbon energy systems. By combining resources and expertise, the partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of clean energy infrastructure in the coming years.
