NTPC Green Energy Begins Commercial Operations of 75.5 MW at Khavda-I Solar Project in Gujarat

Commissioning of the first phase under the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project boosts NTPC Group’s total installed capacity to 84,924 MW and strengthens India’s renewable energy expansion.

New Delhi: NTPC Limited on Wednesday announced that its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has declared the commercial operation date (COD) for 75.50 MW of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat. The project is being executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a step-down subsidiary focused on expanding NTPC’s renewable energy footprint.

COD Declared Under SEBI Regulations

The disclosure, made under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR), confirms that the partial capacity has achieved commercial status effective November 19.
The project is part of the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III, designed to accelerate India’s solar generation capacity through government-linked renewable initiatives.

Boost to NTPC Group’s Renewable Portfolio

With the commissioning of this additional solar capacity, NTPC Group’s total installed and commercial capacity has now reached 84,924 MW, marking another strong step toward the company’s clean energy transition goals.
The Khavda Solar complex is one of NTPC’s most ambitious renewable energy developments and plays a central role in India’s national strategy to scale up green energy production.

NTPC shared the official update with BSE and NSE, reaffirming transparency in operational milestones and progress under its renewable energy expansion plan. The company continues to focus on large-scale solar and wind energy projects as part of its commitment to a sustainable future.
