Machinery to Support Bullet Train Rolling Stock Maintenance

Specialized maintenance equipment is an important part of the infrastructure required to operate a high-speed rail system.

The machinery covered under the latest NHSRCL contract will support the inspection, servicing and maintenance of rolling stock once the high-speed rail system becomes operational.

The agreement is therefore focused on strengthening the maintenance capabilities required for the Bullet Train project.

Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project is a 508-km high-speed rail corridor connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The project requires extensive supporting infrastructure, including:

  • High-speed rail stations
  • Maintenance facilities and depots
  • Track infrastructure
  • Rolling stock systems
  • Signalling and other operational systems

NHSRCL is responsible for implementing the high-speed rail project and developing the systems and facilities required for its operation and maintenance.

Infrastructure Work Progressing Across the Corridor

Construction and infrastructure development are progressing at various locations along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor.

Work at stations including Vadodara and Bharuch reflects progress on passenger infrastructure across different sections of the project.

Alongside stations, the development of maintenance facilities and specialised equipment is important for ensuring that the high-speed rail system has the required operational support infrastructure.

Latest Contract Strengthens Project Maintenance Infrastructure

The contract with the KCS-AVADH Consortium adds to the maintenance infrastructure being developed for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project.

By covering the complete process from machinery design and manufacturing to testing, commissioning and deployment, the agreement is aimed at ensuring that the required specialized equipment is available to support rolling stock maintenance.
