New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has approved the deputation of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer Ravi Sharma to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) as Assistant General Manager/Joint General Manager (Civil) in New Delhi for a tenure of five years.
According to a Railway Board order, the deputation will be valid for five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Experienced IRSE Officer Assigned Key Role in NHSRCL
Ravi Sharma, born on December 2, 1986, was previously serving as Deputy Director General (MR Section) in the Railway Board before his deputation.
He will now be based in New Delhi and contribute to the execution and management of India’s high-speed rail infrastructure projects, particularly in the civil engineering domain.

Deputation Terms and Service Conditions
As per the approved guidelines, the deputation will follow standard Railway and DoPT rules. Key terms include:
- Deputation tenure: 5 years
- Pay and allowances as per Railway service rules
- Deputation allowance as per DoPT norms
- Continued eligibility for leave and retirement benefits under Railway regulations
- Medical, travel, and insurance benefits as applicable
The Railway Board also clarified that failure to rejoin Railway service within one month after completion of deputation will be treated as resignation from service.
Strengthening India’s High-Speed Rail Network
National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited is responsible for implementing India’s high-speed rail projects, including the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor.
The induction of experienced IRSE officers like Ravi Sharma is aimed at strengthening technical capacity and improving execution efficiency of critical rail infrastructure projects.
The deputation reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening leadership and technical expertise in India’s high-speed rail development program. It is expected to support faster execution of major infrastructure projects under NHSRCL.
