New Delhi/Chhattisgarh: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, state-owned mining company NMDC has distributed 1,613 fruit saplings across the Gram Panchayats of Nerli and Bade Bacheli in Chhattisgarh, aiming to support sustainable livelihoods, improve nutrition, and increase green cover in rural areas.

The saplings include fruit-bearing trees such as mango, litchi, and coconut, which are expected to provide long-term environmental and economic benefits to local communities.

Focus on Sustainable Livelihoods and Nutritional Security

The initiative is designed to encourage rural households to adopt horticulture-based livelihoods. By promoting the cultivation of fruit-bearing trees, NMDC aims to help families generate sustainable income sources over time.

In addition to economic benefits, the programme also focuses on enhancing nutritional security by increasing access to fresh fruits within the community.
