NTPC Group Adds 37.5 MW Solar Capacity in Gujarat, Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Portfolio

The commercial operation of the Bhuj solar project raises NTPC Green Energy’s total capacity to 8,310 MW, supporting India’s transition to sustainable and low-carbon power.

New Delhi: NTPC Group has further expanded its renewable energy footprint with the commercial operation declaration of a 37.5 MW solar capacity in Bhuj, Gujarat. The announcement was made through a regulatory filing with stock exchanges, reflecting the group’s ongoing commitment to clean energy and sustainable power generation.

Solar Project Becomes Fully Operational

The newly commissioned 37.5 MW capacity represents the third part of a 150 MW solar project being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd. This, in turn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, a joint venture of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). The project is now fully commercially operational, contributing to India’s renewable energy growth and supporting NTPC’s ambitious green energy targets.

Boost to NTPC Green Energy Capacity

With this addition, NTPC Green Energy Limited Group’s total commercial renewable capacity has reached 8,310.28 MW, while the total installed renewable capacity stands at 8,347.78 MW. This milestone underscores NTPC’s strategic focus on non-fossil fuel-based power generation as part of its broader low-carbon transition initiatives.

NTPC Group’s Overall Power Capacity

Following the Gujarat project, NTPC Group’s total installed power generation capacity now stands at 87,324 MW, with 86,244 MW of commercial capacity. This reflects the group’s consistent growth across both conventional and renewable power sources, reinforcing its role as a leading power generator in India.

NTPC Green Energy Limited continues to play a pivotal role in the group’s renewable energy strategy, covering solar, wind, and hybrid projects. The recent commercial operation declaration aligns with NTPC’s long-term vision to scale up renewable power generation, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to India’s energy security while supporting the country’s climate goals.
