New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) announced on Thursday that its Board of Directors has approved the formation of a 50:50 Joint Venture Company (JVC) with GAIL (India) Limited. The proposed JVC will focus on developing and operating renewable energy projects across India, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country’s clean energy ecosystem.
Board Approval and Next Steps
The decision was taken during a Board meeting held on January 15, 2026, which started at 3:20 PM and concluded at 4:30 PM. The approval is subject to regulatory clearances from the Ministry of Power, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), and other applicable statutory authorities. NGEL has committed to providing detailed disclosures regarding the transaction in line with SEBI regulations in the near future.
