New Delhi: In a significant move to accelerate India’s clean and conventional energy goals, NTPC Ltd, the country’s largest integrated power utility, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Mehsana, Gujarat.
The MoU was signed in the esteemed presence of:
- Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat
- Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Union Cabinet Minister for New & Renewable Energy
- Mr. Kanubhai Desai, Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals, Govt. of Gujarat
- Mr. Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC Ltd
- And other senior dignitaries and government officials.
Strategic Partnership for a Greener and Sustainable Future
The MoU aims to explore opportunities across both conventional and non-conventional energy sectors, strengthening Gujarat’s and India’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions. This partnership marks another step forward in NTPC’s commitment to align with India’s Net Zero ambitions.
NTPC, with an installed capacity of over 83 GW and an additional 30.90 GW under construction—including 13.3 GW in renewable energy alone—continues to be a key player in meeting the country’s growing power demand. The utility contributes approximately 25% of India’s electricity requirements.
Renewables, Innovation, and Clean Energy Technologies in Focus
As part of its long-term vision, NTPC is targeting 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, reinforcing its leadership in the green energy space. Its diverse portfolio includes:
- Thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants
- Emerging sectors like green hydrogen, battery energy storage, pumped hydro storage, e-mobility, nuclear energy, and waste-to-energy projects
This collaboration with the Gujarat government also underscores NTPC’s strategy to foster innovation, adopt global best practices, and invest in clean energy technologies that support India’s broader environmental and economic goals.
