Bihar: A significant step towards sustainable fertiliser production has been marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NTPC Limited and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) to jointly explore the development of a Green Urea Project at Barauni, Bihar.
The initiative brings together NTPC’s expertise in clean energy, Green Ammonia and CO2 capture with HURL’s experience in fertiliser manufacturing. The collaboration aims to explore new opportunities for integrating green energy solutions into urea production and supporting India’s transition towards a low-carbon and self-reliant fertiliser sector.

The proposed Green Urea Project at Barauni is aimed at exploring cleaner technologies for fertiliser production.
The collaboration will focus on leveraging:
